Agatha Christie – The Queen of Crime

There surely is no one who has not heard the name of Agatha Christie. The inventor of the world-famous detectives Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot. In a career of more than 50 years, Agatha Christie wrote over 100 novels, short-stories and plays. The Moustrap is now the longest running play in theatrical history.

Born in the year 1890, Agatha Christie published her first book – The Mysterious Affair at Styles – in 1921. The Belgian detective Poirot makes his first appearance in The Murder on the Links in 1923. The shrewdly inquisitive Miss Jane Marple of the little village St. Mary Mead is to enter the stage in Murder at the Vicarage in 1930.

With over two billion copies of her books sold, Christie is the best-selling author of all time and truly the Queen of Crime.
